Unifor Local 240 welcomes submissions for the annual bursary in honour of long-time president Len Campbell. Brother Campbell was a CAW activist and leader for almost 25 years. He encouraged education and involvement within both the community and the Union. Len recognizes the need to be active in all areas of the community and to tie in those connections to improvements in the workplace.
One recipient (a child of a Unifor Local 240 member) will be selected from a pool of applicants to receive a bursary in the amount of $1,000 to support their post-secondary studies at an accredited institution, college or university.
The selection of the bursary winner will be based on a 1,000 word essay on one of the following topics:
Global politics and their impact on labour
Steps toward a just and fair society
Positive images of labour unions in Canada
Crisis in the Health Care System in Canada
Keeping good jobs in Canada
Please note that the essay must be typed and double-spaced.
Submissions must include all of the following items for consideration:
Acceptance letter from post-secondary institution
Completed application form
1,000 word essay
Applications must be received at the Unifor Local 240 office no later than March 30, 2021
